Bond Assistance Loan Scheme

The Department of Housing offers bond assistance and two weeks' rent in advance as an interest-free loan to help people obtain accommodation in the private rental market. The maximum loan amount depends on your circumstances.​

How to Apply

Complete an application form, available on the Department’s website, and return it to your nearest Department of Housing office with proof of income and identity.​


People aged 16 or more who meet Bond Assistance Loan Scheme income limits and who do not have assets of more than $2,500 for single people and $5,000 for couples. Rent cannot be more than 60 per cent of your gross income. Full eligibility criteria is available in the Department of Housing website.​
