Vocational education and training (VET) course fee concession

When enrolling in an eligible government subsidised VET course, eligible persons pay only 70% of the course fee that would normally apply.

How to Apply

Proof of eligibility for a concession must be shown at the time of enrolment. For online or self enrolments where a concession is claimed, proof-of-concession checks by the training provider will be carried out at a later date.

Government subsidised VET courses are delivered by TAFE colleges and by registered training organisations approved by the State Government. Please contact the Department of Training and Workforce Development to find out which private providers are contracted to deliver VET.

Eligibility

The following students are entitled to the concession rate on course fees:

a) Persons and dependants of persons holding:

a Pensioner Concession Card.
Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold or White card
a Health Care Card.

b) Persons and dependants of persons in receipt of AUSTUDY or ABSTUDY.

c) Persons and dependants of persons in receipt of the Youth Allowance.

d) Persons who are inmates of a custodial institution.

e) Secondary school aged persons not enrolled at school. In 2018, these students will be born on or after 1 July 2000 and must be at least 15 years old.
